The Fit Life Blog

Eating right CAN be hard. Here are three healthy eating tips that will help.

People ask me all the the time how to eat right. What do I eat? When I should I eat? What shouldn’t I eat? How many calories…?

The questions are endless. The reality is that the answers can go on forever as well. Healthy eating can seem complex and we can really make it complex.

It doesn’t have to be.

Forget all you know and I will give you three action steps that you can take right away to help you eat better.

If you want a 30 day plan that is DONE FOR YOU including recipes, shopping lists, coaching and even a workout plan then check out our 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge coaching program. It may be just what you need:

Tip 1: Eat a big breakfast or eat breakfast twice. When you wake in the morning you need to break your 10+ hour fast. “Breakfast.” Get it? Your body is starting for calories and your metabolism is in the toilet. You need to eat. Problem: most people aren’t used to eating a lot early in the morning. Solution: Eat twice. Eat your first meal right when you get up then eat again when you settle down at your job or at your desk. This will get the calories in your body, give you energy and get your metabolism moving.

Tip 2: The safe driving diet. No lie. I just made that up. It makes sense though. 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock. Eat something at both those hours to keep your metabolism and thus your energy moving. Eat some protein and some healthy carbohydrates. I love the idea of a banana and a cheese stick. An apple with peanut butter suites the bill as well. Eating a balanced snack at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock will help you reach your goals. If you don’t get the safe driving reference then you need to take drivers ed again.

Tip 3: Travel well. Believe it or not one of the biggest ways that people get derailed from healthy eating is being on the road. I don’t mean when you are on a road trip. How many people stop to get gas for your car and buy a snack at check out? Perhaps a soda? No cool. You need to stop that. The 10 minute drive home doesn’t requite a Little Debbie and a Dr. Pepper. Do you need a snack for you trip? Yes you do. Make it an apple and you are on the right track! Or, my favorite, trail mix!

Today’s post was meant to be simple. It was meant to give you some action items that you can implement right away to help you live what we call… The Fit Life.
