Do it anyway

I want to share a short story with you today. The message at the end is very powerful. Today’s post is about doing the hard things in life to help YOU define who YOU are and the kind of person you are becoming. Do it anyway.

HINT: Who you are is YOUR choice. 

Allow me to explain.

I was in Miami, Florida at 8 pm yesterday. The drive is over 4 hours. We rolled into town well after midnight and hit the sack at around 12:30 am.

Let me back up a little to give you some more details and to make this message more powerful.

My wife and I were in Miami volunteering at the Wadapalooza fitness competition. Friday, Saturday and Sunday we were up and out of the hotel by 6 am returning will after 10 pm each night. We were on our feet much of the day. We were shivering cold, we were sweaty and gross. At times we worked for hours strait with not enough food or water. We had a good time but they were 3 long and tough days.

I was so exhausted that I was dizzy as I climbed into bed last night .

During the drive I made a decision. The decision that I made was that I would be at the gym for my 5:45 am personal training appointment. I would be there and I would be on time. 

My alarm went off at 5:15 am and I got my tired ass out of bed.

I was at the gym by 5:40 am. I wasn’t late. I was there for my client.

Getting out of bed this morning was ridiculously hard but I did it. I knew it was going to be hard but…

I DID IT ANYWAY.

If I slack on my job because it is hard then what happens the next time something is hard?

Me getting my ass our of bed helped me to define ME. Now I know that I am a person that does the things that need to be done despite the challenges that arrive.

Don’t get me wrong here. I’m not telling you to workout when you are tired just to prove a point to yourself. I’m really not talking about that. I’m talking about the core of who you are. I’m talking about being the type of person that gets shit done despite the odds and despite the hardships.

On your fitness journey you are going to encounter obstacles. You will get resistance in some way or many ways. My question to you is this:

What say you?

Are you going to fire off that text, “Sorry I can’t make it….” or are you going to suck it up and show up?

This journey and all journeys aren’t about the destination. It’s about who YOU BECOME alone the way.

Suck it up and define yourself or get used to disappointing yourself. Get the fuck out of averageville and make a statement. You got this. The choice is yours.
